![]() This book gives a comprehensive account of the geology of the region. ![]() Although now much diminished, coal mining remains an important industry. The region’s fluorspar, baryte and limestone are also major contributors to the UK economy. Industrial conurbations on the flanks of the Pennines owe their origins to coalfields that fuelled the industrial development of the region and contributed much to the prosperity of the United Kingdom. The Pennines, the so-called backbone of England, constitute an upland area of natural beauty much frequented today by walkers and tourists. Detailed mapping of much of the region by the British Geological Survey, mineral exploration and academic research have provided a wealth of new data. Also, our present understanding of tectonic processes, basin dynamics and sedimentation is derived in part from concepts such as plate tectonics and sequence stratigraphy, which were unknown when the last edition of this book was written. However, the vast amount of work carried out in the last 40 years makes the publication of this fourth edition long overdue. The first and second editions of this guide were written by D A Wray and published in 19 respectively. The rapid progress in research on the rocks of the region after 1948 necessitated a third edition, written by W Edwards and F M Trotter, published in 1954.The popularity of this edition resulted in eight reprints, the latest being in 1993.

When discussing your potential color with your colorist, remember that colorists have gone through extensive training in order to achieve the best results for each client and it’s best to defer to them when it comes to the ideal shade. Going too light could possibly wash out a client’s face, as well as going too warm with their color could bring out undesired red/pink undertones. Clients should be made aware of what colors and/or shade will and will not go well with their skin tone and I help them with that. His puzzles first appeared there on November 12, 2004. He introduced his puzzles to The Times, a British newspaper, as Su Doku. He began to create his own puzzles and was soon addicted like the rest of us. Wayne Gould, a retired Hong Kong judge and author of Su Doku The Official Utterly Addictive Number-Placing Puzzle, first encountered the puzzle in a Tokyo bookstore. The history of Sudoku continues to expand. Sudoku continues to be highly popular in Japan, where people buy over 600,000 Sudoku magazines per month. ![]() “Su” in Japanese means number, and “Doku” refers to a single place on the puzzle board that each number can fit into. Thankfully the name has been shortened to Sudoku. Introduced into Japan by Nikoli IN 1984 under the name of ‘Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru’ roughly translating to mean the numbers must be unmarried or single. Sudoku is definitely an American invention, but the name isn’t. Dell Magazines publishes several Sudoku puzzle books with such titles as Dell Original Sudoku, Dell Extreme Sudoku, and Dell Maximum Sudoku, to name a few. You can find Number Place in Dell Collector’s Series. It is a staple of Dell Magazines to this day. Howard Garns, an architect from Indianapolis, is credited with creating this rule when he developed the puzzle we know as Sudoku.ĭell Magazines published the puzzle under the name of Number Place (for over 25 years) since it involved placing individual numbers into empty spots on a 9 x 9 grid. The main cleaning brush is Bissell’s Tough Stain Tool, comprising single spray jet, three rows of nicely stiff bristles and a clean plastic vacuum nozzle at the front. The tools push on and clip snugly into pace. A chunky, rounded trigger on the hose handle operates the clean fluid jet on the attached tools. It all fits together very nicely, and the low down fitting means there is no danger of toppling over the cleaner when using the hose and tools. Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Carpet Cleaner – AccessoriesĪt over 2m long and very flexible, the hose pushes snugly into the port on top of the floorhead. On the plus side, Bissell supplies a flexible nozzle cleaning tool that helps in getting fluff out of the narrow vacuum channels. The top vacuum cover unclips from the floorhead but the main brush bars can only be accessed once you have removed four Philips screws in the side cover and then dropped the little washers on the ends on the rollers. For larger rooms, there is plenty of reach and freedom thanks to the lengthy 7m power cable, that can be wrapped around the back of the machine for storage.Ĭleaning out the machine is something of a challenge. There is a marking on the side of the dirty water container indicating when it is full, so you know when its time to empty. The dirty water tank is slotted in low down under the clean tank, is removed easily and has a capacity of 4.5 litres. The tank is easily removed and can be filled up under the sink with measuring the solution is aided by a helpful black jug, which has measurements at 74ml per tank of water for Deep Clean and at 37ml for Express Clean Mode. There is a clean water tank that holds 3.7 litres of the cleaning fluid mix of water and one of Bissell’s supplied solutions. As is typical with full-size carpet cleaners, the Bissell is rather heavy in the hand and weighed in at 8kg fully loaded with clean fluid. Quality is a virtue with the Bissel as all the parts feel well made and clipped together nicely. For the lighter clean and rejuvenation of carpets, the Express Clean Mode uses less fluid and will take around one hour to dry. For the best cleaning performance, Bissell recommends using the Deep Clean Mode for tougher areas, with the carpet likely to take around four hours to completely dry. These can be selected by popping the red button down on the left side of the machine. The ProHeat 2X Revolution gets two cleaning modes Deep Clean and Express Clean. The ProHeat heating uses the residual heat from the motor to keep the cleaning solution warm, improving both cleaning performance and carpet drying times. You can see the muck being drawn up through the clear plastic shell. The fluid is agitated into the pile by the brush bars and vacuumed up from the front edge of the head, complete with the carpet dirt. ![]() Heated cleaning mixture is sprayed onto the surface using the trigger on the handle that is easy to push down. The floorhead is large and has 12 cleaning rows of DirtLifter PowerBrushes that aim to deliver deep cleaning into the carpet pile.
